The impromptu Australia Day Drive was a really good day out in the Mokes with a convoy of four Mokes and Brian C. in his 2CV taking in the country sights travelling up through Whittlesea, Kinglake West and along the valley to Flowerdale and Stratch Creek. We headed into Yea to pick up some lunch to take out to see how they have spoilt the Chevoit Tunnel with a Rail Trail, bitumen and Bollards to stop you driving through the tunnel.
This month the Service Day returns to Ron's place at 1 Beaufort St, Mitcham. The day starts around 10am and finishes later in the afternoon.Lunch is BBQ style and BYO tools if you are planning to do some work on your Moke or if you are just coming for the chat, then bring some lubricants for your mouth.
Adele and I are organising a MOA trip to East Gippsland over the Labour Day long weekend in March (10th-12th). I shall have more details of the trip & meeting point etc. in the February edition of Tracks, but the plan at the moment is Saturday, head to Blores Hill Camping Ground near Glenmaggie via lots of back roads (North of Highway). Blores Hill has tent camping or 15 bunkhouse cabins, so no need to take all gear if you choose a cabin. Heyfield & Maffra are nearby which have the usual food shops, pubs etc.
If you were to believe the promotion of this trip you would be thinking it is too difficult for the current day Solo Man, Bear Grylls, to tackle and he is peeing himself so much he needs to drink it through his socks. However he doesn't have a Moke and you do so why not come out and experience another aspect of Moking, the adventurous bush drive just out of Melbourne.
