Ulupna Island - Australia Day Weekend

Saturday, January 23, 2021 9:00 pm - Tuesday, January 26, 2021 10:27 pm
This event does not repeat

Annual weekend camp on the Murray River not far from Strathmerton. We camp at Faraway Beach on the island and there's plenty of room for everyone.
Bring everything you will need, food, water, tents, chairs etc, and the infamous club dunny will be there for your use. (The only running water is the Murray)

Do not bring your dog as it's a State Forest area and so you must also take out all your rubbish (bins in Strathmerton).

With the public holiday on the Tuesday, take an extra day and have a 4 day weekend, or you could come early or leave later and have a good long stay.

If you haven't been there before contact Glenn for extra info, like possible convoy up or your estimated arrival time so he and others can help you find the right camp spot. Mobile phones may not work at the campsite so speak to Glenn before the weekend.

Please keep an eye on weather and fire danger info and read the email notices from the club is case of cancellation.

Adventure Travel Film Festival in Bright

Friday, February 12, 2021 9:00 pm - Sunday, February 14, 2021 9:00 pm
This event does not repeat

If you are looking for inspiration, motivation or just an excuse to get away in your Moke for a few days then you may like to join us in a trip to the Adventure Travel Film Festival held in Bright on the weekend of the 12 to 14th of February 2021 and possibly a few extra days exploring the area around the N.E. of Victoria beforehand. If you are interested you will need to organise your own tickets and accommodation, details below, sooner rather than later to avoid missing out

This will be the third year some of us have taken our Mokes to the ATFF weekend and this year we are hoping a few more people will join us in their Mokes and be apart of what is a very uplifting and enjoyable experience. For people with the flexibility of taking a few extra days we are planning an option to leave a few days earlier to do some sightseeing and bush camping in the region before rolling into Bright for the start of the ATTF, otherwise people can make their way up on the Friday morning.

The Adventure Film Festival, https://www.adventuretravelfilmfestival.com/, takes place in small community halls around the township of Bright with each session, short films and talks, running for about 30-45 minutes and giving you 10-15 minutes to walk or jog to the next venue for the next session. On the Saturday evening you BYO low chair and make your way to the river side park for a night time showing of a couple of special films after dark. My preference is to pack a bean bag for the night time showing so just giving you plenty of warning to start checking out the op shops and garage sales. :) Tickets are $125 a person and there are limits this year due to covid-19 restrictions, so if you are keen, get your tickets now.

For accommodation, you need to organise your own, we are already booked on non-powered sites in the NRMA Bright Holiday Park, https://www.nrmaparksandresorts.com.au/bright/, that are right on the river bank closest to town so  central to everything and once you park the Moke you don't need to move it until you move out on Sunday morning. There are other options obviously if you want to go for something more salubrious but if you would like to ask to be placed near those already booked we are on sites 102-104, https://www.nrmaparksandresorts.com.au/bright/park-info/park-map. If you would like to share a site, two cars per site permitted, then let me know and I will see if we can match you up with someone before you book.

Getting there has a few options. You can make your own way there on your own schedule, or in past years we have headed up the Hume on Friday morning as a group arriving about midday, set up camp and checked in to get our wristbands and then pretty much straight in to the sessions. Returning home on Sunday we tend to pack up camp and drive the Mokes to each morning session and then leave around the end of the last screening at 2pm'ish.

For this this year we are looking at a couple of more options to extend the adventure with one option being to leave on Thursday after work and doing a bush camp on the side of the Ovens River and then checking out Beechworth and a a few local sights on the way to Bright on Friday morning. The other option is to head up on the Tuesday or Wednesday and check out more of the area around Beechworth and Yackendandah and see what we can find and then be back on the Ovens River for the Thursday evening bush camp to meet up with the post work lot driving up.

If you would like to know more or just let me know that you are coming along you can send me an email, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 0409 942 896
