The Blacksmiths' Tree commemorates all of those who perished in the Black Saturday fires of 2009 as well as those who fought the fires. It is a 10 metre high stainless steel and copper tree forged by hundreds of blacksmiths across 20 countries, not just Australia. It took 5 years to complete and stands in the township of Strathewen, Victoria.
Come at 9am and look through Peter S's big shed and projects,then morning tea before leaving at around 10.30am to take a leisurely drive to Strathewen to see the Blacksmith Tree.
Next we'll make our way up the side of Mount Sugarloaf, through the Kinglake National Park to the Kinglake township. Note: this is a dirt road and may not be open if fire restrictions are in place. We will take an alternative if required. We will then have a meal at the Kinglake Hotel.

Start at the Olinda Hotel, Lilydale at 9.am and finsih in Lilydale around 5pm.
