Meet at McDonald’s Pt Cook at 8:45am

FYANSFORD PAPERMILL, BARRABOOL MAZE & GARDENS
Sunday 3rd May

Meet at McDonald's Pt Cook at 8:45am - don't forget to start with a full tank in the Moke and maybe a coffee (hot choc) for the journey– and drive to Geelong.
I will then meet everybody at McDonald's Lovely Banks at 9:45am
(This is on the Geelong ring road heading to Colac, just after the Bachus Marsh overpass – do not take the highway into Geelong)
Fyansford Paper Mill-meeting on site at 10:15 for the tour starting at 10:30am …..Originally built circa 1870, the Fyansford Paper Mill stands as one of Victoria's earliest industrial sites - once the third-oldest paper mill in the state.
In operation until 1923, the site later played a pivotal role in World War II as a manufacturing base for sea mines, before transitioning to quarry-related storage and eventually falling into disuse by the mid-20th century.
The tour is run by volunteers from Highton Rotary with the $15 entrance fee going to their work.
After walking around the property and taking in the views of the Barwon River and Buckley's falls we will head to the Barrabool Maze & Gardens which is approx 8 Kilometres away.
The Barrabool Maze & Gadens is set on 28 acres and has a hedge maze, gardens, Duck Duck Goose Café and the beginnings of the owner's own car collection.
The owner Wayne (who I consider a little eccentric) has offered us a special deal consisting of entry to Maze and Gardens after enjoying a meal of Lasagne, salad and chips with French stick bread – all for $30.

A very short drive has you back on the Geelong ring road heading back to Melbourne
(Suggest we also go through the little township of Ceres which then gives you the magnificent views over Geelong and Corio Bay – an extra 5 km)
Note: I must have numbers by 16th of APRIL to lock in the Papermill tour as it is Australian Heritage week and Rotary can only take limited people on the tour.
You will have already received this info via email-but if you still want to go when you read this in Tracks-give me a call and we'll have a chat!
