MOAV Club Song

On a balmy summer night in the 1980s, driving home from a club meeting in Malvern, top down and basking in the light of a full moon, Doug was simply lovin' it. Why wouldn't you? He started humming to himself and by the time he reached home in Mooroolbark the better part of Moking There & Moking Back was done and dusted. Beethoven provided the melody and the universe inspired the lyrics.

In the Club's 50th year Mark was inspired to create the musical arrangement and MP3 recording so Moke Owners out there, wherever they are, can sing the praises of our fun little car.

Moking There & Moking Back
Lyrics: Doug Williams 2L
Backing Track: Mark Radford 180L
Melody: Ludwig Beethoven Ode To Joy

Verse 1
In my Moke I find my spirit
Singing out a song of joy.
I'm released from worldly pressures
Like a young kid with a toy.
Driving inland, driving highway,
In the street or down the track,
I rejoice in simple pleasures;
Moking there and Moking back.

Verse 2
In my Moke I feel the breezes
Whistling round my neck and ears.
Engine revving, curtains flapping
As I change up through the gears.
Others in their shiny capsules
Want for nothing, but they lack
My delight in simple pleasures;
Moking there and Moking back.

Verse 3
In my Moke I'm not alone,
I'm in a club of special folk.
Mokees all with common int'rest;
Different from the normal bloke.
Swapping parts and swapping yarns
These men and women have the knack
Of enjoying simple pleasures;
Moking there and Moking back.

Driving inland, driving highway,
In the street or down the track,
I rejoice in simple pleasures;
Moking there and Moking back.

New Verses

New verse for Mark's Bush Trip 29/09/1990

In my Moke when Mark is leading
I learn how to turn around.
Moking forward, doing U-turns,
Driving on the same old ground.
I'm not saying he can't read maps
Or that he can't find the track.
He just loves to keep us ever
Moking there and Moking back!

Doug. Williams, MOA 2L

New verse for Easter 2006 National Muster

Forty years of Aussie Moking
brought us all to Shepparton.
Mustering was a such a bash
it could become a tradition.
Folk from every part of Australia,
NZ and England joined the pack,
Stories shared with common theme of
Moking there and Moking back!

Doug. Williams, MOA 2L

New verse for Moken up the Middle 31/05 - 20/06/2008

In our Mokes we drove to Alice
with a bunch of guys and girls.
We drove north through Oodnadatta.
Rocks and sand and dusty swirls.
Camping out and climbing canyons,
travelling as a Mokee pack.
All who asked were told that we were
Moking there and Moking back!

Doug. Williams, MOA 2L

Come on folks. Surely Doug isn't the only lyricist in this club of many talents. Your space awaits below.

Robin and Tracels Moke.

On the 1st Feb 2015 Robin & Tracel started the day as usual, it was a Sunday so no work to worry about, just a peaceful day at home. As the day progressed Tracel noticed that Robin was not himself, lethargic, no energy something was not right. Towards the evening things where not improving, in fact getting worse so Tracel rang for an ambulance. The ambulance duly arrived with 4 paramedics on board, they came in and started checking all of Robin's vitals. The initial checks showed nothing of any significance so they carried on doing more tests and talking to Robin about what ever, then with out warning in mid sentence Robin had a massive heart attack. The 4 paramedics worked for a long time, it seamed like an eternity to Tracel, trying to revive him, unfortunately without success.

MOA Introduction

Welcome to the Moke Owners Association of Victoria, a place for members and potential members to learn more about the world's first Moke owners' club.

Established in 1969 the Moke Owners Association has over 300 members, most from Victoria, Australia, some from other Australian states and a few in other countries around the world. The MOA has a diverse, family friendly membership, our club being for the Moke Owner and not just about the great little car. We have regular drives and trips for you to enjoy in your Moke, Service Days and General Meetings to learn about your Moke and social events such as our annual presentation night and our unique ten pin bowling challenge.

A foundation principle of the Moke Owners Association is to do good in the community and that has us providing Mokes and drivers for annual events such as Anzac Day parades, supporting community events, raising funds for special charities and helping local groups where we can.

Please browse our website. We have created it to be the Centre of the Moking World. You can also visit us on Facebook, but most of all we would love you to join us at a monthly General Meeting, or on a drive, or at a Service Day. You don't have to own a Moke to come along, but if you do own one then hopefully you will see benefit in becoming a Member of the Moke Owners Association of Victoria.

KEEP ON MOKIN'
